2019-2020 Solo Exhibitions by Katja Schenker and Robert Zhao

 

About the Curator:

Feng Boyi 

        He is an independent curator, art critic and also concurrently work as a researcher in the Institue of Sociology of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. Now live and work in Beijing.

        He served concurrently as the art director inthe He Xiangning Art Museum from 2007-2017 and won the “Annual Curator” for the12th ACC Art China in 2018.

        Since the late 1980s, Feng has devoted himself to curating, commenting,and editing contemporary Chinese art, paying attention to the marginal,alternative artists and groups, as well as the living state and artistic creation of the younger generation of artists, focusing on experimental and critical contemporary art. He has written, and contributed to numerous articles, theses and essays. Zhang Fan

        Zhang Fan, graduated from Wuhan Universityand University of Amsterdam. She has lots of experience working for differentart institutions and been involved in the planning and production of manyexhibitions in and out of China, such as Now is the Time — WuzhenInternational Contemporary Art Exhibition (Wuzhen, China), 2019;  Utopias/Heterotopia—Wuzhen InternationalContemporary Art Exhibition (Wuzhen, China), 2016; Work, Rest and Play:British Photography from the 1960s to today, ( Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu),2015-2016; Design Edge: Inside/ Outside —OCT- Loft Creative Festival,2013; Ink Alchemy : The Experimental Ink of Gu Wenda, 2010.


Ji Dahai

        aving graduated from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts,. He was an art teacher and art editor. He did business from 1997. He has been involved in decoration design, real estate development and other fields.  In 2017, he founded the Yalu River Modern and Contemporary Art Museum and has been the director ever since.


About the Artist:

 

Robert Zhao Renhui

        Singaporean visual artist Robert ZhaoRenhui (B. 1983) works mainly with photography and installation but oftenadopts a multidisciplinary approach by presenting images together withdocuments and objects.

 

        It is organized by the Yalu River Art Museum, with Ji Dahai as the exhibition director. "Bright trouvailles-Katja Schenker" (Switzerland) and "The Lines We Draw - Robert Zhao" (Singapore) are curated by Feng Boyi and Zhang Fan Renhui), solo exhibitions, will open at Yalu River Art Museum in Dandong on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This is another annual exhibition project of Yalu River Art Museum after the successful solo exhibition "2017-2018 Wang Luyan".

 

Robert Zhao Renhui

        Robert Zhao Renhui is an artist born and living in Singapore. He mainly uses scientific methods to discuss the relationship between human beings and nature, and pays special attention to the cognition and influence of the human way of living on nature. His work won the UOB Painting of the Year (Singapore) in 2009; in 2011, she won the Deutsche Bank Prize organized by the University of the Arts London;in 2010 he was awarded the Young Artist Award, the highest national award for young artists, by the National Arts Council of Singapore;in 2017, he was shortlisted for the Hugo Boss Asian Emerging Artist Award.

 

Robert Zhao Renhui is at the Yalu River Wetland in Dandong

 

Robert Zhao Renhui 's solo exhibition at Yalu River Art Museum is about his investigation of the migration of endangered birds in the Yalu River Wetland in 2019. By using photography and computer processing methods, he creates and presents the free-flying forms of these birds in the form of large-size photography.
