About the Artist：

Sun Shiwei

        Born in Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province in 1960.

He graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1987. Now he is the associate research librarian of Fengcheng Cultural Center.

In 2007, oil painting "Winter" participated in the second National Oil Painting Exhibition of Scenery and Customs sponsored by the Chinese Artists Association, and won the award of Excellent works (the highest award of this exhibition).

In 2008, the oil painting "Corncob Thrower" participated in the 2008 Olympic Fine Arts Conference co-sponsored by the International Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Culture and the 29th Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and was collected by the IOC.

Liu Keyan

        He graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts and is a professional painter. His works have participated in many provincial, municipal and national art exhibitions, and many of his works have been collected.

YanFeng

        Born in Fengcheng, Liaoning Province in 1968.

       "2018 Art Exhibition by Sun Shiwei, Liu Keyan, YanFengand Lv Wenjing"It will be opened in the Yalu River Art Museum, Hall 2.

       Dandong, which city is far away from the mainstream context of contemporary art, had no exhibition opportunities and no appropriate communication platforms for contemporary art here before the Yalu River Art Museum was completed. However, there are a group of artists who have been working on contemporary art creation lonely and tough for a long time and they are almost without any income.Sun Shiwei, Liu Keyan, Yan Feng and Lv Wenjing are quite representative.

       To anyone’s surprise, in such an environment where there is no international vision and hardly contemporary arts exchanges, they can create works with inspirational significance and communication. Their artistic language is unique, and there is no lack of inner spirits and purity.

       Some of them put all their focus on limited works, and one of the works has not ended since 2008 yet; some of them regard continuity as an artistic state. He completed construction of the work form and concept with thousands of illustrations; some two-dimensional works have been converted into installations ,that make its collection value of painting not exist anymore. All these are not a kind of rejection to the market, they simply consider the inner logical needs of works more than the tastes of the market when they are created.

        These artists have also often participated in mainstream exhibitions and won awards, and the galleries in first-tier cities managed their works too. However, they chose to stay away from the noise and impetuosity, and were willing to be lonely and marginal on the artistic road of seeking self.

        Their persistent belief, which lasted for several years and even more than ten years, is enough to prove that they are pure artists. In the era of information and marketization, this pure artistic attitude and spirit almost disappeared in the Chinese art world, so it is precious.

        This is the reason why the Yalu River Art Museum chose them. They will be the opening exhibition in Hall No. 2 of the Yalu River Art Museum in the way of the annual group solo exhibition of artists. Hall No. 2 will take this opportunity to provide an exhibition and exchange platform for domestic and foreign artists with purity, spirituality and courage to explore, and build up an indispensable construction of international contemporary art exchange context in Dandong.
